Mary Poppins As Alter Ego

Christophe Gowans at Stella magazine contacted me about a job painting Mary Poppins, or more accurately P.L. Travers, the creator

The image was to have quite a dark feel to it to reflect the article with Travers as the main portrait and Mary Poppins in shadow as her alter ego.

My main problem was that the reference was in black and white and it wouldn’t really be possible for me to convert to colour. Christophe suggested we go for a duo tone sort of look which got around the problem nicely

Painting didn’t go too badly but a nasty bug contracted during the painting of the work made life a little difficult. The deadline was met though and everyone was happy with the end result.

Cool assignment, great job of making the idea a reality but with a name like Kasch I'm not surprised.

Great work, love the limited use of colour on this, really gives it a deep meaning, much like the article.

Love it.
