A quick call from my agency in the U.S. (Bernstein and Andriulli) and the lovely Pamela Esposito confirmed that I was to start work with New York magazine who I hadn’t previously worked with.
The illustration was to accompany a piece about how fashion designers are paying celebrities to sit front row at their shows, and how lately they’re choosing the most random celebrities who don’t seem appropriate for the labels at all. And those celebrities are sitting there looking totally disinterested.
Caroline Jackson, the commissioning editor supplied me with three or four really nice photos to work with which really helped me to put an image together very quickly.
Artwork didn’t really take too long to do at all, although I was aided in that respect by the dark background surrounding the characters.
